I Like Nice Things – Nura

You like music? Of course you do, everyone has some sound that they love and that question doesn’t make for a good pickup line (tested). No matter what genre you find yourself returning to, the sound and delivery just finds a way to soothe your soul. And I’ve found the perfect delivery to be a pair of Nuraphones.
The company looked at creating personalized EQs based on how your ear reacts to different frequencies of sound. The magic of sound engineering with microphones that measure the response of your inner ear create the perfect pair of headphones for each user. Simple styling and all black metal design, but bespoke sound, because we all hear differently. My listening profile is shown in the orb above. What drew me in to the wildly designed headphones was the aspect of immersion. Throw yourself into the music, fully. The brand has done something fresh in a market that seemed to be lacking innovation.
The probe like design of overhead and in ear style headphone takes a bit of adjustment to get used to. This two part design gives you the best of both designs with the inner cone handling the mid to high range sounds, and the larger driver of the outer cup handling the bass. That face rattling base that so many concert goers have come to know and love can be found in most headphones, but now it can be found without sacrificing vocal clarity. The ‘immersion mode’ has a sliding scale from gentle to front row. I highly recommend using front row mode for all of your music needs. The few times I’ve turned immersion down have been for action films with lots of explosions, and a few deep voiced NPR hosts.
I’ve had this pair for about 2 years now, after an issue with my first pair that was replaced under warranty. Customer service was helpful in trying to perform a reset, but communication was a bit slow given the company is based in Australia. A few days of email responses in the evening and A new pair was sent to me with shipping and return shipping paid for by them. They continue to innovate and push forward the ways in which we interact with sound. The Nuraloop in-ear travel headphones will definitely make packing for flights a lot easier for me and I can’t wait to order them too!
I Like Nice Things – Packs Project

Everyone is trying to go places, so why not go in style? I first heard about this brand when a friend had the black and silver book bag from Packs Project and recommended them for their styling, but the vegan leather was just a plus. How can you resist a company that doesn’t kill, except for their killer deals!
Bridging that disconnect between how much I like something versus how much I’m willing to pay is pretty easy when Black Friday deals go into effect. “Purchase a duffel and get a free backpack!” And for this price I went ahead and threw in a matching toiletries bag. This was at a time where I had a lot of work travel, and can’t say this was the main reason, but it definitely felt like having nice luggage was helpful in those free last minute upgrades to first class. I’m sure the 57 flights in a year and premier status helped, but the luggage was just the red vegan cherry on top.
I Like Nice Things
It all begins with a Black Friday sale. Free book bag with purchase of a duffel, how could I not buy it? A year passes and I enter my friends apartment in Seattle and the first thing noticed is the red vegan leather duffel and matching backpack. I have been called out for making some expensive purchases. I like nice things. Finding the justification for these purchases can come by way of a limited time sale, limited edition item, or an event calls for it. Usually a large purchase for me is attached to some sort of goal, a positive reinforcement for reaching my goal and just the icing on the cake.
After being called out in such a manner, things became clearer as I unpacked. I have amassed quite a few nice things. What a better place to share some of the things I’ve bought than here! A few posts on some of the items and what drew me to the brands themselves.
Decisions
Decisions may be the worse aspect of life. All these possibilities exist until you make the decision to go one direction over another. Making the decision to write a new blog post, great decision. Until you’re sitting in front of your computer and at this moment you’ve no longer anything to say, truly baffling. So you plan a small get together with close friends and in the time before they arrive you realize the anxiety may be back and only because you care about the people you invited. No one has cancelled, and everyone is on their way. Life is good. You order the seasonal Gose and do your time, slowly waiting for the first person to arrive. In the time between your drink arriving and your first friend appearing around the corner you’ve already typed a few sentences in a style that’s true to yourself. All the time spent reflecting on what truth you will share today just added pressure to even starting a post and now here we are, together sharing this moment.
